Have you ever randomly come across a verse and thought, “I was totally meant to read this in this exact moment?” That’s what happened to me the other day when I was reading my Bible and came across this passage: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
In that very moment reading it, I was indeed feeling weary and burdened. Life has been serving up some real doozies lately. Between a school year starting, the season changing, and the cold and flu running through my home, I’ve definitely felt pretty drained. God reminds us that He is here to take it all on from us. Jesus clearly even says it in this passage: come to me…..and I will give you rest. This passage reminds me that I can just bring my tired self to the feet of Jesus and He accepts me as I am.
What an amazing God we have. We don’t have to perform a certain way to be received. He just wants us, in whatever state we are in. I’m weary, I’m burdened, but I have a savior who says I can bring that to Him and have rest in His love.
