I always make it a point to arrive early to trainings and games. You never know what you may deal with. In Boise, there is a giant soccer complex known as Simplot Sports Complex–one of the largest soccer complexes on this side of the country. This is where 80% of competitive soccer games are held in the valley. With that said, traffic and parking can be a nightmare if you are “on time.” On any given Saturday, you will see endless cars coming and going out the complex.
As a coach, I like to be early because I get the best parking and it gives me time to adjust to any unforeseen circumstances. There have been many times I needed to run to my car to get something or needed to repair something. Sometimes, a player has a situation that is out of your control. Because I was early, I have the time to address the situation. It can be hard if you have other things going on, but being early means you have a commitment to others and that you are willing to prepare and handle challenges that can arise.
