Have you heard of the phrase “let’s talk story?” I am from Hawaii and the definition is this: Share stories, get to know one another, share your life in dialogue.
When people “talk story” they are being present with others, listening to what they have to say. They are sharing their life’s ups and downs, past experiences. They are enjoying each other. It is a term of endearment.
What I love about “talking story” is that we get to connect with people. We have a chance to share our stories from generation to generation. It is a multi-generational and no screens are required! Here is an idea–make it a goal to talk story with someone this week. Maybe it is someone in your office, or a friend you have lost touch with. Maybe it is your grandparent! Maybe it is even your spouse. Make a connection and exchange life and stories with one another! There is so much reward in connection. Let’s talk story.
