Ok, full disclosure. This summer I jumped on the “The Summer I Turned Pretty” bandwagon. #TEAMJELLYFISH
It has a great cast, storyline, and soundtrack–all the makings of a show that I really captures my interest. And yes, I even love all of the fans picking their “teams.” Which were you? Jeremiah, Belly, or Conrad?
After watching the season finale the other night, it dawned on my why I was so drawn to this entire show. The whole storyline unpacked and illustrated relationship. Whether it was romantic, platonic, or familial, the center of this show was about the diverse relationships between the characters. If you dive deeper, you can see the root of these relationships was love.
Love comes in many forms. We see it first hand many times in the Bible and in our lives. Love in action, words, and emotions. As a Jesus follower, I believe God is love. He is the root of love, and He formed us to love and to love others. So, in watching this show, I saw love and how the characters discovered it, wrestled with it, and eventually came to peace with it. The root is that we were created by God to love each other and to need each other. That was His intention.
Maybe there is someone in your life that is in need of you. A call, a text, a coffee meet up. Reach out to them. Everybody needs somebody.
