I know few people who plan well for the future.
If you’re anything like me, most days are lived hour by hour. Yes, there’s an overall agenda. Sure, you know of a few meetings sprinkled in, the kids have to be here and there, and at some point you’ll eat a couple times during the day. Three times if you’re lucky!
But more often then not, you get to sundown absolutely exhausted, saying, “welp, that didn’t go as planned.”
Why is that? Why do so many of our days end is deep exhales and promises to do better tomorrow?
I’ll submit it’s all about intentionality. You simply can’t move in a direction if you have no direction to move towards. And intentional direction is greatly lacking in our society. The distractions are many, the emotions are overwhelming, the focuses are, well, out of focus.
So we wind up floating, sinking, flaying, panicking, stressing, complaining, blaming, and failing.
I easily lose track of what really matters. It’s not the schedule, the empty inbox, the list of things. Those are footnotes. Bonus points. Jesus said, the greatest thing I can do today, is love. God. Myself. Others.
There’s some intentional direction! Love those three things before sunset today, and you’ll stick the landing.
