I listen to A LOT of music–and most of it is faith-based. It’s not only my gig on multiple levels, but it’s my personal lifeline. It picks me up, encourages me, provides hope, sustains me in these long days, and connects me with God.
There’s so much music to sift through week in, and week out, I don’t find myself parking on a song very often. And when I do, I like to share it. This week, “God Gave Me Freedom” by Anthem Lights has been on repeat.
It’s about reaching the other side of wandering and being totally surprised that coming back was even possible. In that journey, a newfound freedom that only God can give has been discovered. It’s full of hope, peace, and most importantly, meaning.
Can you believe it, I’m on the other side
I must be dreaming, Made it through the night
Woke up to meaning, Now I recognize
That this is freedom, Give me freedom
Finding purpose on the other side of any journey, especially the hard-fought ones, is so incredibly important to healing. Yes, God wants to bring you through it, but not just for your healing. For others’ healing as well.
If you’re scratching your way through anything right now, keep going. God is going to use your efforts someday. There will be beauty. There will be redemption. And most importantly, true freedom will be found.
