We’ve all gotten used to the word “adulting.” We mostly associate it with the ho-hums of our lives now as adults. The ‘no fun, pay the bills, clean the garage realizations of life. Recently, I have heard more about taking the time for play. Typically, we think about kids when we hear that word, but these days, it is encouraged for adults to find the time to play.
Studies have shown the importance of play. Play is beneficial to one’s emotional, physical, and mental health. It brings about the genuine simplicity of joy. It helps us relate to others. It engages us. It’s a positive part of our day–sometimes the only positive part of the day! It increases our well being and reduces stress.
God created us to have joy, and He created us with the individual desire to play in many forms! What does play look like for you? We have about a month left of the summer season. Let’s make the most of it! Create a “play list,” and see what you can check off as forms of play in these next few weeks. Comment below so we can all gather ideas! Let’s play!
