It took me a few minutes before I got up and left the room. A friend and I just had a pretty emotional conversation. It was full of heartache and sadness, going to depths that are rarely explored. The door in front of me was both daunting and blurry behind teary eyes.
I’m thankful for moments where a space transforms into something sacred and healing. You can hear and be heard. See and be seen. Safe. Secure.
I didn’t want to leave.
I knew that outside that room, real life waited, like a lion hiding in the bush ready to pounce. Mindfulness would be challenged. Serenity would be interrupted. Security would be threatened. I needed just a few more minutes to prepare myself for the rest of day.
Moving forward can be incredibly difficult at times. More than a little scary. But when you can launch from community, with support at your back, you can survive.
Find a person. Find a space. Get real. Then, go.
