You may be as frustrated as I am with this lingering cold and snowy weather…
At this point, I am SO over it. Spring season has begun and the current weather conditions are not the greatest for soccer, especially when you are coaching 8 and 9 year old girls.
I have been so frustrated. The park where we train at has been so muddy because of the melted snow. It has not been fun. The girls have been adjusting, but this has been far from ideal. However, we have a season to get ready for. The girls have been on good pace and I want to keep them there.
I have been pretty vocal on on air and on social media about my displeasure being outside in these conditions. A former college teammate of mine who grew up in Ghana had to remind me of the conditions he grew up playing soccer in. As a child, he never played on grass until he moved here to America. He told me stories of how there was trash, feces, and random objects they had to deal with. I was reminded of how grateful I needed to be.
I am grateful these girls have a place to play. I am grateful that I get another chance to coach again. After all, the snowy weather and frigid temperatures will be gone and the beautiful, sunny days will return. I am grateful to have people in my life to remind me of things to be grateful for.
