We are headed into a very busy season. Some probably will say that we are already IN it! (Need I mention there are not many Saturdays left till Christmas!)
I don’t know about you, but I’m really looking to find some peace in my life. I recently saw a phrase that caught my attention: “Practicing Peace.” I have never seen those two words used together. To me, peace was just something that was existent, and nothing I thought to “practice,” but it’s true. Peace is a discipline and something we need to be mindful to practice.
How do you practice peace? I thought of a few ideas, and I’d love to hear yours.
Be grateful in the moment. When you stop to pause and have gratitude for things in that moment, you will feel that instant sense of peace. It’s a nice way to keep from spiraling into a ball of stress over things you may not be able to control, in the moment or at all!
Take deep breaths. When you deliberately take deep breaths (5 seconds in, then out) your body physically will relax. This will help your mind to also relax and gather peace.
Understand that Jesus is the anchor. Life will throw you upside down, steady, and then upside down again. The difference is, in a life with Christ, He is the anchor of peace. There will be ebb and flow but we ultimately know that Jesus is with us through it all.
