We have all been there. When life serves up a difficult, bothersome situation, out of our mouths comes a complaint. Sometimes, we complain about EVERYTHING! We get into a space where we feel that life is “just not fair.”
I found myself complaining more regularly. I found out that I complained a lot when my own kids started adapting my attitude toward things as well! Talk about showing me the mirror and reflection of myself! I read recently that there was such a thing as a “complaining cleanse.” Find a day or a few days in which you really monitor how much complaining you do, and then rather that spout it out, catch yourself and let them go. The other part of the cleanse is to combat the complaint with a gratitude! One expert has said that “Gratitude activates dopamine in the brain and creates the conditions for optimism.” Wow!
Are you in the complaint club? Care to go on a complaint cleanse with me? Let’s keep each other accountable and see how this change affects us for the better!
