We just added “At The Cross” by Trip Lee to Project 88.7!
“At The Cross” is Trip Lee’s story about how his life changed directions for the better when he committed his life to Jesus and his encouragement that others to do the same. Trip talks about discovering the things he used to live for before knowing Jesus–like material possessions and wrong romantic relationships–are empty and that living for Jesus is not only the right way to live, it’s the most fulfilling way to live.
Living for the things of this world instead of living for Jesus leaves us feeling empty and unfulfilled. Chasing things Jesus tells us to stay away from brings negative results into our lives. But putting faith in Jesus looks like changing directions with your life because of your belief in Him and your trust in His death on the cross to save you from your sins (disobedience to God). As Jesus said in Luke 9:23, being His follower means you’re no longer living for sin and for self, you’re following Jesus with your life from now on and living for Him.
Living for Jesus isn’t something we have to do in our strength and ability. We have a role to play, but He teaches us His way as we read His Word, the Bible, and empowers us to grow and change through His Holy Spirit working in our hearts. And as He does that transforming work in us we get to tell others that they can know Jesus and experience life change too, just like Trip Lee does through this song.
“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 NLT)
“As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.” (Galatians 6:14 NLT)
