In “Graves” KB raps about how he was a “dead man walking” before he began a relationship with Jesus. Jesus died on the cross and was raised from the dead back to life. And, when we trust in Him, He spiritually brings us from death to life. We all know what it’s like to feel hopelessness from dealing with hard situations. We know what’s it’s like to feel guilt and shame for our mistakes. We know what it’s like to want a fresh start in life and a clean slate. Jesus offers the best and most important fresh start you could ever ask for. The bridge Brandon Lake sings talks about how Jesus makes messes into miracles and broken stories beautiful.
I love listening to “Graves” because it paints a picture of what Jesus can do in a real person’s life. If Jesus can bring KB’s dead heart and what seemed like dead circumstances to life, and cause purpose, hope, and transformation to come out of those things, He can do it for you and me too.
