Where do you tolerate laziness? I believe we all have our areas.
In business?
At school?
In recreation?
Health?
Your spiritual life?
A current relationship?
All of the above?
Should I keep poking?
Laziness is probably happening somewhere. I know for me, I’ve identified way too many corners where I’ve allowed laziness to park and do nothing. That’s kinda its “thing.” But very few of us are great at everything, and if you’re one of those people who are just rocking at life, don’t let me know. I’ll instantly loathe you.
However, if you’re one of those “work in progress” people (my crew!), then the challenge is to recognize where laziness is happening, discover what it’s producing and then figure out how you can learn and grow from it.
In Proverbs 24:30-31, laziness is a result of a “lack of wisdom” (aka laziness) and it’s producing thorns, weeds and broken-down walls. A “slacker” (TPT) owns these rundown, shoddy fields.
I don’t want to be a slacker. Anywhere. That word brings me back to Principle Strickland in Back to the Future. (“Oh, yes sir!” I love that movie.)
It’s never easy to admit to yourself that you’ve let an area of your life grow a bit wild. But give yourself some grace. This journey would be pretty boring without some yard work here and there.
Have a great week! –Kevin!
