Last week during our Spring Fundraiser, we heard an incredible story that highlighted the power of the type of music that we play here at Project 88.7.
An individual called in while we were broadcasting live and thanked the team for playing a song from Hulvey. He was on his way to taking his life, and the lyrics in the track convinced him to keep going. He had turned around and was heading home and just wanted some prayer.
Our call staff paused on taking gifts and prayed with him. It changed the entire direction of the day and recentered us on why Project exists.
Wow.
We don’t talk enough about the power of the music that we play. We talk about community, feeling good, doing good–and that’s all great. But this music has power. It reminds me that God is near. It forces me to continually turn around and reenter God’s graces. It encourages me when I’m down, despondent, and hopeless. It reinforces the importance of people in my life.
We can face so many things with God carrying us across the finish line, and I’m thankful He continues to use the music of Project 88.7 to remind me of that on a regular basis, and I’m praying our world is richer in the near future because our friend decided to stay and keep listening.
