Would you say you have an advocate in your life right now? By general definition, this would be someone who would publically support you or even plead on your behalf in a court of law. A champion of you. One who would uphold you, and back you. No matter what.
Think of who that is and how they showed up for you in the past.
It’s incredibly important to have an advocate in our lives. Why? Because life can get incredibly hard, and we are typically unkind to ourselves. We make stupid decisions and we need someone who will see us for who we are, not for what we’ve done.
We need an advocate and we can go our whole lives without leaning into an advocate that’s available to all of us. The Holy Spirit.
In John 14, Jesus shares about THE Advocate (with a capital A). He will never leave you. He will be a friend just like Jesus. He remains and lives within you. He will not abandon you as an orphan.
You can’t see him, but he’s the best Advocate you’ve got. Spend some time with him this week. He’d love that.
