A few weeks ago, I was surrounded by a Winter Wonderland up in the mountains during a men’s retreat. It was cold. Like, almost zero cold. The snow was waist high and the day way beautiful. Sun out. Clear, blue skies. A shiny ground covered with countless crystallized flakes.
I bent down and scooped up the finest powder I’ve seen and leaned in close, amazed at the finite detail of every individual snowflake. They were perfectly protected from the bitter cold, not yet transformed by any kind of shape-altering melt.
In my glove, as I stared in awe, I felt so close to God.
I saw His beauty. His detail. I marveled at how easily I missed it. I’d spent much of the day walking, driving, and passing by a similar landscape, oblivious to the quiet invitation in front of me.
God is in the smallest details of our everyday life. I’m so incredibly thankful for that. And here’s the best part… if you miss it, that’s ok. He’ll be in the details tonight. Tomorrow. Or ten years for now, waiting patiently for you to bend down, settle in, and dive deep.
