I wasn’t quite prepared for the moment. Ahead of me were two mountain peaks, and we were flying straight at the middle of one of them going 120 mph.
I looked over at my friend, the 50+ year career pilot who invited me on this adventure in his two-seater prop plane, and he was calm and collect.
“Uh, do we need to do anything?” I stumbled, like I had remotely any clue what I was talking about. “Like pull a level, or push a button? Cause, you know…mountain.”
“Nah,” he replied. “The air current and the plane will do all the work.” And just like that, we ascended up and over the mountain peaks, with the valley ahead of us coming into full view. We looked at each other and laughed.
It was a beautiful moment, and a nice reminder of sitting next to God in the cockpit. We breathe deep, start to sweat a bit, begin to panic, and point out the looming obstacle ahead that will most definitely be taking us out this time. God, all cool and chill, looks over at us, making eye contact, and says, “Dear child, watch this.”
Let’s let God fly this week as we simply enjoy the view, passing over another looming mountain ahead.
