This week Kanye dropped a new song. The music video is provocative. The lyrics, as is Kanye’s style, are a bit repetitive.
But as I hear a cry for hope, a cry for life, a cry for something bigger than what we can see in this time of unrest.
Looking at the news and social media is overwhelming. If you’re like me, you’ve had that moment when you just had to close the news app, get off social media so your head could clear.
Kanye’s is not an intricate lyricist like KB (KB’s songs are mini-college classes!). But I resonate with Kanye’s cry:
Is there anybody here?
That can save no matter how much he player-hate?
It was the blood that cleansed me….
Holy Spirit, come down (Come down)
Holy Spirit, help now (Way down)
Holy Spirit, help now (Uh, uh)
This cry hits me upside the head. I think it’s my voice, my actions, what I can do that will make a difference. Maybe it’s more about what God can do – and what HE can tell me to do, rather than what I come up with.
Holy Spirit. Help now. Please.
