We rented a boat this past week. And then I jumped off in the middle of a beautiful mountain lake. And then I couldn’t get back into the boat.
My family found it quite comical while they archived the struggle. I, however, tried not to panic after multiple, unsuccessful attempts.
A year ago, I would have had no problem lifting myself up. But after a year of COVID screwing up my routine and giving me excuses for days while losing all motivation for working out, there were a few more pounds to lift, and a little less muscle to work with.
I needed help to lift myself up. But don’t we all, in one way or another? Sure, we can kid ourselves that we’ve got it. We can tell ourselves, “This won’t be a problem, I’ve got it,” and jump right into the waters only to discover that we, in fact, are quite weaker than expected.
And we need help to get back in the boat. Stat.
Maybe you’re treading water right now, not quite sure how to pull yourself out of whatever situation you’ve gotten yourself into. My encouragement for this week: lean into God’s strength and shoot me a note about how I can be praying for you in that process. kevin@project887.com
And then do some pushups. Me first.
