There’s a lot of talk out there about being true to yourself. About living your best you. Prioritizing self. And while all that sounds really great on the surface, the results are never quite as great as what the brochure is promising.
It sucks how Satan loves to twist things just enough, so that they sound really great, but are rotten to the core.
You see, this journey that you and I are on has to end with authenticity. But what the heck does that even mean?
I’ve found it starts with understanding who God is. What is He like? What does He say and believe about me? And Jesus… Who did He spend time with and love?
Why is any of this important? Because you and I were made in God’s image. From the start. He formed us before birth. So the best way to find our true core, is not to look at what our environment, or those around us are encouraging us to become, but to look at the Creator of everything in the first place.
As we grow and seek approval, build relationships, and run from all the garbage life inevitably throws our way, we start to chip away at that core and replace it with other stuff. Fast forward a few decades, and our reflection can be unrecognizable. We become something we were not designed to be.
Inauthentic.
Genuine…but utterly fake.
If you’re ready, start by asking yourself, “am I living true to who God says I am?” Journey soft and with grace, and know I’m right there with you this week.
